Spacer August 19, 2008 - SVG Open 2009 and 2010, Call for Organizers
We are looking for volunteers who are interested in organizing the SVG Open 2009 and 2010 conferences. Ideally, an organizer is active in the SVG community and has already attended past SVG Open conferences. We compiled a SVG Open organizer FAQ in order to inform potential bidders about the conference goals and past conferences. A SVG technical advisory committee consisting of past SVG Open organizers and members of the W3C SVG working group will choose among the bids. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask per email (a.neumann@carto.net). Thank you for considering organizing an upcoming SVG Open conference!

Spacer June 7, 2008 - Donate to the travel fund for Open Source SVG developers
The SVG community benefits a lot from Open Source SVG projects like Apache Batik, Inkscape, Webkit, KDE, Mozilla or dojo.gfx. While some open source projects have a commercial background it is often hard or impossible for Open Source developers of SVG viewers or tools to come up with enough funding for travelling to conferences or workshops. If you want to support your favourite SVG open source project or meet the involved developers, this is your chance to make a small financial contribution to enable their participation. The local organizers will offer a limited amount of free conference passes for Open Source developers. The donation option is available after logging in and following the "Final Registration and Payment" link.

Spacer March 12, 2008 - SVG Open is moving forward!
We've already received a lot of papers and requests on the SVG Open as well as a lot of registrations on the Website. We'll just want to thank everyone into trusting into this great Scalable Vector Graphics Format and we'll be trying to do our best making this year's SVG Open a huge access and win for all attendees as well as all the other participiants. A lot of work is going on behind the scenes such as designing banners and booklets that'll be all over the place at the location. We're also preparing a few goodies including a joined celebration with the W3C of XML's tenth anniversary this year. A lot is upcoming so stay tuned!

Spacer March 8, 2008 - Paper and Course Abstract Submission Deadline Extended
Due to the late arrival of the registration forms there was only a short period for people to upload their abstracts. To provide a chance for more people to submit their paper and course abstracts, the deadline for abstract submissions is extended to March 31. Reviewing is done in the weeks after. The plan is to inform authors about acceptance before April 29. You may submit a new abstract or edit your already uploaded submissions at the registration page.

Spacer March 4, 2008 - Some insight views on the SVGOpen 2008
Right now, we're working hard to push the SVG Open 2008. The conferencing rooms are booked and we are currently preparing a few banners and logos that'll be placed inside and outside the conference place. We are also working on some press related materials we'll be shooting out when the Agenda is ready which should happen by early April. Right now we are also working together with a few companies talking about sponsorship and more usefully - showing their committment to the SVG Standard.
You can participate in many ways, so make sure if you'd not like to make a presentation or maybe teach a course in a workshop!

The basic registration system is in place. The user registration and abstract submission forms are available. You may create a new user or login at the registration form. At the current time the forms work fine in Opera, Safari and Mozilla-based browsers but fail partially in Internet Explorer. We will try to adopt to the Microsoft way of scripting soon and apologize for the inconvenience meanwhile. The course proposal submission form will be provided next week.
