Abstract

The SVG standard has found application in a variety of areas and disciplines, from graphics and cartography to biotechnology and mobile content. A good example of the widespread interest in SVG is the growing number of presentations and courses available at this year's SVG Open Conference and the diversity of topics covered. Yet, while SVG gains in popularity within technical domains, the overall awareness of SVG lags considerably amongst IT Professionals and the population at large.

Why does brand recognition for SVG matter? What steps can be taken to increase the level of commercial acceptance of one of the most exciting new W3C standards? What crossover points must be accomplished for SVG to become a relevant technology for commercial deployment? This panel discussion will try to address these critical questions and explore how SVG can claim an appropriate position within industry.
