The NaviMap Basic Solution

This configuration uses pre-generated vector tiles, and offers:

a client application, with its opened Javascript API, providing all the map navigation functions,

a MapCast server with its Vector and Raster Tile Manager.

The typical use of this configuration is the dissemination of static maps previously generated with softwares like Illustrator (Adobe). The RATP (French Paris Public Transport Agency) has adopted this solution to disseminate through Internet the maps describing the public transport offer for mobility restricted people.

This solution as well puts up with a raster tile pyramid for the interactive map generation.


The NaviMap POI Solution

This solution complements NaviMap Basic with online generation and display of localized information (Points Of Interest).
 
A database manage the information related to the POIs what ensures, through the use of the MapCast's Dynamic POI Manager, the ability to always disseminate up to date information. NaviMap offers a mean to interact with the POI using the mouse, or through the API (blinking, color change, zoom effect, information report or popup...). An automated label placement mechanism ensures an optimized, non overlapping, label position.
 
 The typical use of this configuration is the thematic display of POI (hotels, parking, etc.) over a town map, using independent layers for the different classes of POI and the underlaying map.


The NaviMap Dynamic Solution

This is the most powerful solution, providing online generation of vector maps from a spatial database (Oracle, PostgreSQL).

high quality cartographic data generation based on an automatic management of labels and symbols, a very rich representation for polylines (multi edging, etc.), and the ability to apply several representations to the same object depending on the display context ...

local area detailed map generation: use of street database, automatic label positioning through the use of the road network topology, street direction management, street number management, etc.
